Breast cancer is a broad term for cancers that begin in the breast. Breast cancer can start in one or both breasts when cells begin to grow out of control. Although it occurs most often in women, men can be affected by breast cancer, too.

There are many different types of breast cancer. These cancers are classified by the kind of tissue in the breast that is affected as well as by certain types of proteins and genes produced by the cancer cells. The classification helps to determine the state of the cancer as well as a patient’s treatment options.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer refers to cancer (uncontrolled growth of cells into a tumor) in the prostate gland. Prostate cancer only occurs in males. The prostate gland is involved in the male reproductive process. It produces some of the fluid that makes up semen.

Almost all prostate cancers are adenocarcinomas; cancers that develop from glandular cells, though other rare types do also occur.

Florida Oncology Tavares offers many treatment techniques for prostate cancer, including time-saving treatments like 5-day SABR. You can find more information about the SABR treatment here. Skin Cancer

Many different skin cancers respond well to superficial external beam radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is often an excellent alternative to Mohs micrographic surgery, particularly in cosmetically sensitive areas such as the nose, ears, eyelids, and face, as no cutting or suturing is required. Each cancer case is unique; our physicians will create a personalized treatment plan to address our patient’s individual experience.
