Born and raised in South Florida, Mayra has moved all over Florida since graduating High School in 2013. She had always had a strong passion for helping others and decided she wanted to be a pediatrician when she was twelve. After her first semester at the University of South Florida on the Pre-Med track and shadowing Radiation Therapists for a day at Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, she immediately knew this was the career for her and changed her major. She had to wait an entire year to apply to the Radiation Therapy program at Hillsborough Community College. Still, with the unconditional support of her now-husband and her loving parents, she knew it was worth the wait.

After graduating in 2017 from Hillsborough Community College, she landed a job at the last clinical site where she was a student, Orlando Health Cancer Institute, and worked there for four years.

In 2020, Mayra gave birth to her first baby girl, Valentina, whom she adores more than anything else in the world. In her free time, Mayra enjoys spending time with her family and loves dancing. Mayra is more than excited to continue her journey as a Radiation Therapist here at Florida Oncology Tavares and aspires to give the best care possible.
